Stuff you might want to know

FVI on Patreon

A great way to support our troupe, other than coming to see our shows, it to become a Patreon supporter.
Your monthly $5 contribution helps us keep our gear in shape, pay advertising and website maintenance costs, and pay our performers for their time and talents.

To say thanks to our supporters, they receive a $5 discount to all FVI ticketed shows! If you come to both shows in a month you’ll get $10 in benefits!
Broken Clock members also get $5 off of our shows there! And you can stack those discounts! That’s right! For those that are both Broken Clock members and Patreon supporters, your admission to Broken Clock shows is… ZERO DOLLARS! We’re just giving it away here!

FVI on YouTube

Most of our shows (barring technical difficulties) get posted to our YouTube channel. However, the Uncensored part of UnProv isn’t always appreciated by YouTube. They like to demonetize channels that swear, but we’re not scared! We don’t have enough subscribers to be monetized in the first place!
Subscribe to our channel and help us get demonetized!

Spring is in the air, and ICE is melting

This spring has been tough on a lot of people. Local small businesses have been hit especially hard.

Our troupe, as well as most of our friends in the theater community, depend on local, independent, small businesses to survive. Many of these places are operating on razor-thin margins in the best of times.

Now that the weather is trending towards less face-bitey, we encourage you to find a local restaurant, coffee shop, brewery, theater, boutique clothing shop, antique shop, anything else you can think of!

The truth is, McDonald’s and Wal-Mart aren’t going to close if you don’t go, but so many places that support so many people will.

Other Things Going On

This year they’re expanding their schedule! Every 2nd & 4th Friday and Saturday of the month at Strike Theater. Shows start at 7:30. Get tickets and learn more on their website!

For their Friday shows February and March they’re doing a live improvised Romantic Comedy. These shows are recommended for adult audiences.

If E-for-everybody shows are more your speed, you can still catch their ComedySportz matches on Saturdays

Good Camel Comedy Theater

“From gut-busting stand-up to fearless improv and boundary-pushing storytelling, Good Camel Comedy Theater curates events that speak truth to power—through laughter. We spotlight BIPOC artists, queer voices, and bold perspectives that don’t always get a mic in traditional spaces.”

On March 19th they’re hosting the Oasis Laugh Battle at Lush. Watch as some of the best BIPOC comedy minds in the Twin Cities “battle through lightning-fast games, building scenes from nothing and taking big swings in front of a live crowd that can feel the tension rising.”

Can’t make it that night? This unique show runs the 3rd Thursday of every month at Lush.

Clover Club Jazz

A man in a black suit plays an acoustic guitar while seated on a gray couch, looking intently off to the side. A woman wearing a black dress stands next to him, gazing confidently at the camera in a well-lit, stylish interior.

Clover Club, the Minneapolis jazz duo featuring vocalist Victoria Temiz and guitarist Carl Johnson, brings a fresh yet authentically jazzy sound to the scene. Their repertoire, deeply rooted in the jazz tradition, echoes the intimate, laid-back style of Ella Fitzgerald and Joe Pass, with a twist.

  • Troubadour Wine Bar
    • Friday March 20
    • Friday April 10
    • Friday May 1
  • Finnish Bistro Coffee & Cafe

Men On Boats – March 12 – 15

The American government sends a crew of explorers down a river to name and claim things that aren’t theirs to own – and they soon hit rough waters.  Riffing on the history of an 1869 expedition through the Grand Canyon and played by a cast of people the first journey left out, Men on Boats is a raucous adventure that questions our mixed-up myths of masculinity and Manifest Destiny.

Suggested $40, Pay What You Can $15

The Parting Glass…

Here’s a video of Jimmy Carr interacting with an audience member.

The audience asks him “Were you funny as a kid?” which leads Jimmy to drop some truth on everyone:

“You don’t stop playing because you get old, you get old because you stop playing.”

Our troupe loves playing. We do it on stage, yes, but we also continually find ways to play off-stage too.

Finding the game within the game of life is a great way to get through stressful times, and to find the joy in the world around you.

We hope you can find a way to play this month.
